Mom's Kobo, which contained thousands of books, has just reset and WIPED itself of all books.

So as of right now, mom will have to stop reviewing as I look for the books.

My Marine Daddies by Sara Fields

     They just retired and were ready to take it easy and have some fun.  It was time for them to laugh, drink and spend time with the ladies. These were their plans. Suddenly someone comes into their lives. She needs guidance and love. After talking it over they agree to help her. She has no idea what is headed her way.

    I like the writing for this one. It is fantastic! It feels as though their are two stories being told here. Ms. Fields does an excellent job of incorporating them. The characters are well defined. It does have adult themes but it enhances the story. The Marines "daughter" did just as they said and her life got better. The Marines couldn't have been happier. 

     I didn't find any issues.

     I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because  it's really a good story.

Children's Books to Share With the Little in Your Life

 

Buy Me, Sir by Jade West

      Melissa has more responsibility than most young women. She works hard but the price of everything seems out of reach. She had to find the money for her small little family to survive. If Melissa knows one thing, it's that life isn't fair. She is going to find a way to even the odds.

     This one is extremely well written. It gives the reader a glimpse into what can happen. I found the characters intriguing. They slowly unfold until you have a clear picture of them.  Ms. West builds the story quickly and the pages are flying by. Suddenly you are at the end of the book. I really enjoyed this book. The story underneath is sad and sweet. The adult themes just make it explode! You need to add this one to the TBR pile. It'll warm the winter nights quite nicely.

     I only found one issue. I'd like to have Melissa's age a bit higher than it is. It's a little close to the line.

     I gave this one 4 cheers out of 5 because of the age thing.

Boner (Engorged #2) by Ashley Sands

      Tristan's breakup was inevitable. The two of them just didn't click.  He decided to join online dating sites. He didn't think he'd find "the one" so fast. She was everything he wanted in a girlfriend. Tristan knew he had to get to know her better. He didn't have any idea it would all blow up in his face.

     Humorous with a huge surprise, this book moves fast. The characters are so easy to engage with. I loved how fast their relationship was moving but not the wall they crashed into. Ms. Sands writes of the good and bad about dating someone you meet online. She puts this surprise right where it needed to be. I cringed and I laughed as this couple tries to make things work.  I had a similar situation but it didn't turn out well. Get this book for the snuggling and reading time before bed.

    I found no issues.

     I gave this one 4 cheers out of 5 because there are so many other surprises you could have used.

Mr. Banks (Storm #1-5) by Tara Crescent

      The weather was horrible, but what's new.  Tess was finishing up her day at her business when the door opened. A man doing a really good imitation of a drown rat walked in. At first glance Tessa is spellbound. Could it really be him? Time didn't wait too long to answer that question.

     The writing of this book is stupendous. It's an easy read with a medium paced story. The characters are a little flawed but that's okay, it works in their favor. Tessa staid and steady and Tim ready to fly by the seat of his pants. They just click.  It made me fantasize about my Hollywood crush and how I'd feel if this happened to me. Ms. Crescent gives this couple hurdles to deal with. She keeps them real.

     I found no issues.

    I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it blew my socks off.

Room Twelve: King with a Kink: Club Sin by Rebecca Gallo

     Briar Thorton just wanted to get to class as quietly as possible. Making a noisy entrance was not an option, especially when King Cassius is the lecturer. No I'm not kidding. The guy is really a king. He also has a huge pet peeve about being on time for class. When he draws attention to her, she knows she's in trouble.

    Unexpected, erotic and sort of sweet, this book will really take you away. I love the approach to the story. It is refreshing. The college setting is not a widely used location for stories. This page turner sets a quick pace and manages to keep it throughout. The characters you could find anywhere in the world and they are three dimensional.  King Cassius has a remarkably hardline approach to Briar's punishment.  This is part of a series but they also stand alone very well.

I found no  issues.

     I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it straps you in and takes you for a rocket ride.

The Psych Ward Notes: Surviving Anxiety & Depression by Peter Vox

       When you are in high school, the last thing you need is more things to deal with.  How do you deal with anxiety or depression? It's not easy. If parents are having similar issues, it's even more difficult to handle. Small slights become a major event. Being a little down just gets deeper in a hole. So what happens next?

     This book is such an amazing read. It really gets into the nitty gritty of mental health. I really enjoyed learning more about mental illness and how some handle it. It's sobering to see how one man was brave enough to say I should be hospitalized. The writing is clear and the subject matter told in a down to earth way. It's not something you should be afraid of. Embracing your own mental illness is the most empowering thing you can do. I thank and applaud this author for showing himself mentally to the world, warts and all. Not many would be able to do that. You've got to read this. It's sort of a how-to-manual for recognizing things to discuss with your doctor or another adult. I found it very refreshingly honest.

     I didn't find any issues. It's very clear from page one to page none.

     I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it really is a great tool for mental health.

The Rembis Report: An Observation by Mike Rembis

      The Rembis Report is a writing exercise expanded. Author Mike Rembis wanted to expand his thoughts and his wording to help in his work. This is the result of that project. It really took on a life of it's own and truth be told, Mr. Rembis was enjoying the freeing ability it gave him.

     This book is interesting and a unique read.  You will learn things you wondered about or have crossed your path in the past. It's at this point I have to depart from the glowing words or specific things I found wrong with the book. Mr. Rembis accomplished his goal. He expanded his thinking and wording. He should have stuck to that. If however, Mr. Rembis wanted to share with personal friends, family or the really "big" fans, this would have been perfect for that. At first I found it a nice read. By the time I got  to the second reading, my feelings were confirmed. I felt like I was reading a family "diary". It became more about updating friends and family. Items only of interest to family and friends made up most of the book. I hesitate to even call it a book.

    A book implies a story, information of interest of a section of the public or a very specific group interested in a topic. This didn't include any of that. It was personal. It was silly. It was local. It wasn't for the public. It was as though Mr. Rembis said to himself," If I have to write, I'm gonna make it pay."

     Issues have already been discussed.

     I gave this one 1 cheer out of 5. It should have stayed in your "writing den."
