Review of Daring A Duke: The Courtesan Series By Claudia Dain

Jane Elliot is from New York City during the Regency period.  The problem is, if you can consider it a problem, Jane Elliot is a very modern thinking woman. She's been trying to gain her independence and have an adventure for years. Her father and brothers have other ideas though. They are bound and determined to make a lady of her in spite of herself.  When Jane gets the chance to visit relatives in London, she's beside herself with joy. FINALLY some excitement. Except  those brothers are to go with her.  After days of being confined to the gardens and house Jane devises a plan. The plan however doesn't go exactly as she wants it to.
This light, funny and more modern look at London society is like breathing fresh air. It gives a peek into what could happen if a woman with an independent mind lived in the Regency period. I loved the fact that Jane stamps her foot and declares independence.. even if it is in a room filled with London's high society. You'll smile and laugh throughout the book.  I thought it would have been nice to stretch it out a bit more than  a day or so in the timing, but even for a book that's set in one day it was terrific!

I give this book 4 out of 5 Books!
