Zakk is a prince and will be crowned king on his sixteenth birthday, if he can survive the Witch Queen. The Witch Queen is determined to rule Zantar one way or another. She's already killed Zakk's parents. She has his father's ring, now all she needs is his mother's to rule completely. To stall for time, she changes Zakk into a plastic doll. Zakk knows he has one powerful person on his side, Kiera Matthews. She is destine to save Zantar and Zakk. Kiera can't figure out what all the strange dreams she's been having mean. They are dreams she's had for years. Then Kiera finds a strange looking ring. It's pretty cool so she decides to keep it. Things really get strange for her after that. She finds Zakk and is disturbed when she can hear him talking and see his eyes moving. Zakk begins to explain the story of how he came to be a doll and Kiera's part in all of this. Together they will save Zantar, they hope.
I think this book is perfect for the younger crowd. It gives them the fantasy of a fairytale, the elements of a mystery and just enough of a love story not to "gross them out". *smile* The story is well conceived and executed. The action moves along at a good pace so it keeps the interest. Kristy Brown has created a book that young adults will love and follow for years to come. I only hope the tales of Kiera and Zakk continue.
I didn't find any issues here.
I gave this one 5 out of 5 books because it's one Kristy Brown can build on.
