When Evil Cries by Eti Elbot

Joao took six hours to be born, by age five, he knew he was unwanted. His mother made it clear Joao was a burden for her to bear. His father traveled and rarely saw Joao.  Neighbors and friends took care of Joao and kept him from his mother's wrath. Sometimes they were successful and other times they weren't.

I applaud the effort of this author but this is not a book I'd recommend.

I did find issues. The pacing of this book is extremely slow. It's very disjointed. The definitions being included throughout the book aren't necessary. This book is full of misery and wandering story lines.  There is not a clear picture of what the author is trying to convey.

I gave this one 2 cheers out of 5 because it needs to be reworked.

Audrey's Promise by Susan Sheehey

Audrey's campaign was in full swing and she's decided to go back to her hometown for awhile. She knew things would be difficult there, but Audrey felt it was time to be part of her family again. The voters called her 'The Peacemaker' and she hoped it worked in her favor when she reached home. To add to her stress, an investigative reported asks to tag along. Audrey didn't want her secret to be told.

Great characters who are fully developed and relate-able give this book a perfect start. You'll be touched by this story and you may need tissues. It really pulls at the heartstrings.  Secrets and small towns go together like PB&J. I could sympathize with Audrey because all of the small towns I've lived in were like this.

I did find issues. Though the basic story is good, it reads very slowly. I feel portions of the book could have been removed or shortened to make it read better.

I give this one 4 cheers out of 5 because of the issues above.

FREEBIE OFFER EXTENDED UNTIL FEB. 6

College student, Taryn Moore, planned to spend spring break with her friends. But everything changes when she learns a grant has fallen through, forcing her to use every penny she saved from her part-time job to pay the tuition balance.

All her plans were ruined until she runs--literally--into her gorgeous professor. During a dinner in his home with his equally beautiful wife, Taryn's elated when they offer their guest house to her for free.

It doesn't take long, however, for Taryn to realize that the sexy couple has other plans for her--things most virgins never even fantasize. Yet, what surprises her the most is the instant sexual attraction she feels toward the couple.

And how much she yearns to be invited into their bed.

Author's Note: This book is over-the-top, insta-lust filled with tons of steamy MFF, MF, and FF scenes. If you're looking for hot and dirty, this is it!

Oliver and Jumpy - the Cat Series, Stories 55-57, Book 19 by Werner Stejskal

Everyone love Oliver and Jumpy. They are such good friends and they help others too.  This book has the following stories. 55- Flood, 56- Lazy Squirrel and 57- Unexpected Lory.
55- Flood- Oliver awakens to a stormy day that grows worse as the day progresses. His friends become worried for their safety and ask Oliver is they can stay with him until the storms pass.
56- Lazy Squirrel- Squirly was sad to discover her winter nuts were gone. ALL OF THEM. Oliver decides to help her find out where they are taken. They catch Lazy stealing the nuts Squirly had just buried. Once Lazy runs off on the search for more nuts, Oliver and Squirly take the nuts back and Lazy learns a very valuable lesson.
57- Unexpected Lory- Mausi and Oliver have a good chase every week. It keeps them both fit and it's fun. When they return from one chase, Oliver's home had been broken into. A distant relative had runaway from home.

Each of the books in this series are fantastic. Well written with a child's imagination in mind, they each have a message for children. Characters your child will adore are part of the package. These books are a must for easy and quick for nap time or bedtime. You'll be reading these over and over. The illustrations are amazing and allow your child to make up their own story.

     I didn't find any issues.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because they are simply amazing.

Oliver and Jumpy, Stories 52-54 (Oliver and Jumpy, the Cat Series, Book 18)

Oliver and Jumpy are having new adventures. The stories in this book are; 52- Oliver the Babysitter, 53- Smoke Over the Sea and 54- Raindrop. Oliver and Jumpy have so much fun together and they meet the most interesting animals.
Oliver the Babysitter- Oliver agrees to keep his nephew and nieces for the school holidays. Their family is expecting a new baby boy. Fun and imagination are put to good use.
Smoke Over the Sea- When you see smoke, it could mean trouble. Oliver and Jumpy go to check it out and their whale friends help too. Oliver and Jumpy are captured by natives so they can teach a native boy English.
Raindrop- Oliver watches as the rain keeps falling. In time, friends ask to stay with him high in his tree house. Everyone enjoys being together and hope the rain will stop soon.

This series is a must for any children's library. They are fun, engaging and each tale is the perfect length. Characters children will love and a story very well written is in every book. This series allows children to use their imagination. I love that each story has a lesson in it.  Your child will be asking for these to be read over and over again.

      I found no issues.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because they are so entertaining.

Fairly Safe (Love of Fairs #2) by Deborah Ann Davis

Jacob's life hasn't been easy. He's had to struggle for a very long time. One day that changes when  an older man takes him under his wing and gives him a job. One of Jacob's duties is to accompany his mentor to fairs in the area. The older man explained how he loved going to the fair and had actually met his wife at one. Jacob believes there is a deeper story about the fairs and he may be right.

This love story is an amazing tale of bravery, love and loyalty. The writing is superb and the characters lovable.  Ms. Davis gives us  a unique story in this book. I found it engaging and sweet. You'll be amaze by the depth of love contained in this book. You'll enjoy, as I did, the fun events throughout. I think this one should be in your TBR pile.

     I found no issues.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it touched my heart.

After You're Dead: A Jake Roberts Novel, Book 5 by Cary Allen Stone

Jake Roberts is still trying to move on after Caitland's murder.  It's not easy and his friends are worried. Jake's one companion is Katy. She gives him unlimited love. The two are inseparable. After a series of events, Jake finds he must leave Katy at home while he helps a friend. The only question Katy has is will Jake come back alive.

The opening of this book is powerful and attention grabbing. Extremely well written and plotted. The characters are complex and inspiring. The visuals this author creates are out of this world. It's a heart-pounding Adrenalin rush.  You will find the visuals in this book are anything but outlandish. The pace of this book is a rapid one as you are pulled along on Jake's journey.  This is Mr. Stone's best work to date. It would make an award winning movie! It can be disturbing in spots, however it's not 'over the top'. This author should be writing movies! You will never go wrong if you chose Mr. Stone as an immediate buy author.

I didn't find any issues. All the bases are covered in this one.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because of the roller coaster ride.
