KOBO AURA: Review

I got my Kobo a little over a month ago and I wanted to share my thoughts. I've always been a Kindle person.  The people at Kobo contacted me and asked if I'd like to try a Kobo Aura.  Thinking it was a joke, I said sure.  Low and behold, the Kobo Aura arrived at my house. I was super excited!

First, the Kobo Aura is really perfect for the tech challenged like me!  There are step by step instructions and no way to get confused.  I took it out of the box and plugged it into my computer.  I followed every step and within minutes had my Kobo ready to use.  There are many features on the Kobo and though I could break them all down, I'll let you have the fun of learning about them.  For me, this is a practical use review.

Second, the back lighting is phenomenal. I love the fact I can just turn on my Kobo and the light is right there.  It makes the Kobo a joy to use.  The Kobo Aura is lightweight and almost paperback book size.  It makes the Kobo so much easier to use.  My Kindle doesn't have a light and makes it difficult to use in some instances.  The Kobo is a touch screen so no buttons to break.

Third, you can store articles you find online, on the Kobo! I can take them anywhere that way and read them at my leisure.  The other features are ones you'll enjoy as well.  I'm just a basic use person.  I love that the Kobo has only a couple buttons for it.  The Kindle can be confusing with the keyboard and all the other buttons just to use it as I did for basic reading.

Fourth, I did find some problems.  Kobo doesn't have anywhere the number of free books that Kindle does. The books are a bit more expensive too.  No real instructions on how to download books from other sites to the Kobo.  It's difficult to find a leather or other cover for the Kobo too.  My Kindle had a leather cover I found for it.

Finally, I do think you'll love the Kobo just for the basic reading.  More than that I can't speak to.  As you all know, my reviews are brief and to the point. Too much information can be a bad thing too.  Get a Kobo, you'll love it!!

Forbidden Call by Martha Bourke

It's a New Breed. The shifters chosen by the Goddess are stronger and have a few new powers.  The one thing no one was prepared for was a mated couple which included one they think is a Toltec.  This war between the Toltec and the New Breed has gone to a whole new level.

If you haven't been reading this series, WHY NOT! This is a fabulous shape shifter series.  Edgier and more intense this next generation of shifter does a whole lot more.   Fantastic writing and characters you take to right away make this one a keeper!  I can't wait for the next in the series!!  Martha Bourke's books are the best ones of this type I've read.

    I found no issues.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it was WONDERFUL!

Revelations (novella) by Martha Bourke

Graduation time is stressful enough without finding out you aren't like everyone else.  You can feel something different but you just aren't sure what it is.  Adriana Mendoza wasn't sure what was happening to her.  Soon it all becomes very clear and  her life changes forever.

Martha Bourke's books are consistently wonderful!  The characters are like family once you start reading this series.  I enjoy the writing style and that the characters are "normal" people.  Finding your soulmate should be so easy!

    I found no issues.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it's a beautiful story of love and acceptance.

A Potion To Die For by Heather Blake

There's a witch hunt in Hitching Post, Alabama and Carly Hartwell is the witch they are after.  She always seems to be at the mercy of the townsfolk when Mr. Dunwoody makes one of his predictions.  Carly was use to the crowd, however she was not ready for the dead body she found.  Living in this small town, she of course knew the dead person.   Now to find out why the dead body was clutching one of her potion bottles.

A bit of magic, lots of mystery, a smidgen of fun and some good ole fashioned southern charm are what make this book fantastic!  Colorful characters and a well written story pick you up and hang on to you until the end.  For me, this was like old home week in book form. *smile*  Ms Blake is one of the best mystery writers out there today.  I highly recommend this book.

     I found no issues.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because of it's attention-grabbing ability.

Devilishly Wicked by Kathy Love

Tristan is the editor of HOT! magazine. It's one of the biggest fashion magazines available today.  They are cutting edge.  Georgie Sullivan is his personal assistant.  She has a style all her own and it doesn't really jell with that of HOT! magazine.  The terrific thing is Tristan and Georgie work well together.

I really don't want to share much of this story because it's so unique! Superb writing and wonderful characters, you will adore this book. I zipped through it in no time.  Humorous and contemporary, the romance here is HOT HOT HOT! Ms Love really out did herself with this one.

    I didn't find any issues.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because I simply adored this book!

Business as Usual by E. L. Lindley

As a documentary film maker, Georgia Connelly is one of the best.  When it comes to drinking, not so much.  The drinking earned her community service at a school where the students were anything but cooperative.  Having been a former teacher, Georgie knew it would take some doing to engage these students.  The problem was, Georgie was not known for her patience.  She worked with the students one day a week. The other days, her employer was trying to keep her safe. While doing do, he hired James Finn to act as her security.  It wasn't what Georgie wanted.

A solid story that encompasses mystery, intrigue and some humor.  Very big on detail, you'll enjoy the ups and downs this book brings to the table.  I found the characters colorful and fun.  This is one you'll enjoy.

I found issues.  Very little romance, low on action and a bit dry.  I like a little of all of that in a read. The book is good though.

I gave this one 3 cheers out of 5 because of the issues.

Parents Playbook for Learning by Jen Lilienstein

There are  eight types of learners. Extravert, introvert, judge, perceiver, sensor, intuitive, thinker or feeler. Each of these learners have their own special way of absorbing information.  Their environment for learning is different. We as parents can help these children be more productive if we know how they approach learning.

In the first few pages I found myself identifying my three children's learning styles.  I could see the benefit of making sure where they learn. I mean their study area at home.  I was amazed how much easier they picked up on their lessons when they were in their element.  Ms Lilienstein did a fantastic job of making sure this book is easy to read and implement.  If you are a parent, you need this book. Will save so many headaches and fights.

The only issue, I think it should have been maybe a couple of books. It's a lot of information to gather and put into play.

I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because I haven't found a book this good for parents!
